Here Is Something You Can Do Right Now To Actually Fight Donald Trump

The racists, xenophobes, bigots and misogynists have won a fight that is part of a very long battle. While their win threatens the livelihood and integrity of millions of families across our country, we cannot allow the vile nature of Donald Trump and the GOP even an inch as they push their archaic vision for America.

So, we must fight back.

Our battle is not near over, unless we don’t stand back up. So, the best thing we as progressives can do is organize and get behind those who fight our causes. Do not slip into apathy. Do not give up.

Here is a list of organizations you can join, support and/or donate to which will truly fight the actions of President-elect Donald Trump and his ilk.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

Trump and the GOP vision is a threat to the United States Constitution.

The ACLU is committed to fighting Donald Trump’s constitutional violations in court. They have been a champion for human rights for nearly 100 years. Follow the ACLU on Facebook and become a member today.

NARAL Pro-Choice America & Planned Parenthood

Trump and Pence are anti-choice leaders. In an interview on “60 Minutes,” Trump said his Supreme Court picks will be pro-life and the legality of abortions should be left up to the states. To the women who live in anti-choice states he said, “Yeah, well they’ll perhaps have to go, they’ll have to go to another state.”

The way to fight this is to support organizations like NARAL Pro-Choice America, who will use the political process to protect our right to choose. In addition, we must support organizations like Planned Parenthood who make healthcare options available to those who cannot afford them.

Like NARAL Pro-Choice America on Facebook and donate to help them fight the battle. Help Planned Parenthood get to a million likes on their Facebook page and take action saying #WeWontGoBack.

Southern Poverty Law Center

There is no denying that people of color and other minorities will continue to be targets of hate and injustice in America. The election of Donald Trump has poured gasoline on an already raging fire.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a civil rights organization which “combats hate and intolerance, and fights for the rights of the most vulnerable in our society.” They fight institutional racism, white supremacy and discrimination. They currently run a hate watch blog that is used to expose the hate of the radical right. Follow SPLCenter on Facebook and/or donate to them.

GLAAD and Human Rights Campaign

The LGBTQ community is in need of our support. Donald Trump’s presidency threatens the rights of millions who have yet to even see full recognition. While marriage equality prevailed, discrimination is still very much legal and accepted in many states. The assault from the right-wing is not near over. To fight back, we need to get behind organizations who will stand up to the GOP while still promoting tolerance and acceptance within our society.

Follow GLAAD on Facebook and join the GLAADiator team to help promote understanding and equality.

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is a grassroots movement “as the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization.” They will continue to fight for the human rights of all. Like HRC on Facebook and/or donate.

If we seek to change the political landscape, we must organize now for future elections. is the largest progressive grassroots organization in the country. Their goal is to “elevate the voices and power of real people in the political process.” Join the other 8 million members of and follow them on Facebook.

We can fight the right-wing take-over of our country. By backing progressive causes and organizations, we can still push back. We are NOT powerless and there are a lot of us out here.

Join one (or more) of those organizations. Donate to them. Ask your friends and family to do the same. Now is not the time to normalize this election and go back to the comforts of our daily lives, now is the time to continue to push and bring about change in spite of the hand which was dealt November 8.

While this list is not nearly conclusive, it is certainly a good sample to start with in throwing your support to the progressive fight in America.
