Remember how Justice Antonin Scalia died and there was a vacant seat on the Supreme Court? Remember when Republicans said they absolutely would not confirm an Obama appointee to the court and then proceeded to block Merrick Garland’s nomination for 293 days until it ran out on Wednesday? I’m sure all remember this very well since it crippled our highest court and forced it to deadlock multiple times because SURPRISE! There are supposed to be nine fricken judges making the decisions. Anywho, now that Lord Orange Feckstick has been elected president and will be sworn in soon, Republicans are suddenly very forgotten all about their own shitty actions. According to the Huffington Post, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is warning Democrats that they better play nice or else:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) issued a warning to Democrats on Wednesday, one day after the Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garlandexpired without any Senate action: Don’t consider staging a similar blockade on any of President-elect Donald Trump’s high court nominees.
“I think that’s something the American people simply will not tolerate and we’ll be looking forward to receiving a Supreme Court nomination and moving forward on it,” McConnell told reporters.
Oh he is just so f*cking adorable isn’t he? His threat was so stupid that Donald Trump looks like Albert Einstein by comparison.
CLEARLY, Americans will absolutely tolerate a Supreme Court nominee from being blocked. In fact, one could argue that we will even reward such behavior, Republicans do have control of the Senate still in spite of their obstructionism. It is pretty hilarious that McConnell has suddenly decided that he wants our court to work though, isn’t it? It’s almost as if the Senate GOP doesn’t believe our government should be productive unless they are in power. Oh wait, yes, that is exactly what they believe.
In all likelihood Democrats will not spend the next four years blocking Trump nominees because we are adults and not angry toddlers. Instead our lawmakers will do what they always do and work to approve a justice who is fit to serve and our court will once again function as it was meant to — no thanks to the angry turtle and the rest of the GOP hypocrites in the Senate.
