It’s not a new thing for Republicans to use practically anything as an attack on President Obama, but Mike Huckabee’s latest statment really takes the cake. It may just take an entire bakery’s worth of cakes, and possibly the pies as well.
Mike wasted no time in attacking our president for being a rational, smart and articulate leader during a time of national outrage. He criticized President Obama for having the audacity to bring up the fact that more gun control would help prevent mass shootings in America.
If he could ONLY have been more like Ronald Reagan, Huckabee lamented in his statement:
I think this is a time when real leaders bring people together, he doesn’t split them apart. He doesn’t need to inject the divisive arguments like gun control at a time of great grief for the nation. And he ought to do for us what Ronald Reagan did after the Challenger disaster. And that’s remind us of what we have in common, not what separates us. And that’s why I’m always so frustrated. Barack Obama has such great potential to be a leader.
Wow … A mass shooting is NOTHING like the Challenger accident – mostly because the Challenger was an accident. You don’t accidentally shoot 50 people in a night club or a classroom full of 1st graders plus their teacher. And let’s not forget that the Challenger accident grounded NASA until they resolved the issue and were sure it wouldn’t happen again. What that means is they actually did something about it, unlike guns.
Ok, Mike. You want to talk about Ronald Reagan? Let’s do it sucker.
Ronald Reagan supported an assault weapon ban. There’s no debate. No nuance, or context. He simply did and that’s a fact. The assault weapon is THE gun that Americans use to mass murder other Americans in our most brutal and grotesque acts of domestic terrorism. It’s fast, lethal, and racks up the biggest body count for the buck. Reagan HATED the thought of civilians owning them.

Reagan’s own words at the time:
“I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, for hunting and so forth or home defense. But I do believe an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon nor needed for home defense.”
Do Republicans REALLY want Obama to be more like Reagan when it comes to guns? Bless their ignorant hearts.
