Sarah Palin labeled President Obama “a special kind of stupid” in one of her notorious and most likely cheap box wine and fistful-o-pills-fueled (I mean, who are we kidding here?) Facebook posts earlier today. In a rant that is best described as meandering, trite and pointless, Palin wrote:
OBAMA IS A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID
Enough is enough, Mr. President. There’s no “due respect” due you after pulling this stunt.
Exploiting a sick, evil, ideological-driven attack on Americans to further your twisted anti-Second Amendment mission is disgusting. Today you’re demanding an “explanation” from law abiding gun owners, but not demanding the same from followers of Islam, the religion behind this terror?
If the demented Orlando terrorist doesn’t represent all Islamic followers, then why do you insinuate he represents all gun owners?
And why, after any shooting, do you always want to take away firearms from the innocent people who didn’t do it?
Forget your asinine gun control, do your job and engage in Islamic terrorist control.
Yes, it’s a special kind of stupid to demand we explain ourselves. But if you really want them, get ready for our explanations. Here’s mine:
Let me try my best to get this straight, although I must admit it’s quite the challenge as I don’t speak Babbling Bimbo very well. According to Palin, it’s “asinine” to propose gun control measures because the shooting spree in Orlando was inspired, at least in part, by religious hatred.
Here are the facts. Nearly a third of the world’s mass shootings happen in America, and in only an infinitesimal number of those has religion, including Islam, been the catalyst. Furthermore, according to a U.S. World and News Report analysis from February of this year:
Of the more than 300 American deaths from political violence and mass shootings since 9/11, only 33 have come at the hands of Muslim-Americans, according to the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security. The Muslim-American suspects or perpetrators in these or other attempted attacks fit no demographic profile—only 51 of more than 200 are of Arabic ethnicity. In 2012, all but one of the nine Muslim-American terrorism plots uncovered were halted in early stages. That one, an attempted bombing of a Social Security office in Arizona, caused no casualties.
And in a Global Research report from the same month, they came to a similar conclusion:
Since 9/11, [Charles Kurzman, Professor of Sociology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, writing for the Triangle Center on Terrorism and National Security] and his team tallies, 33 Americans have died as a result of terrorism launched by their Muslim neighbors. During that period, 180,000 Americans were murdered for reasons unrelated to terrorism. In just the past year, the mass shootings that have captivated America’s attention killed 66 Americans, ‘twice as many fatalities as from Muslim-American terrorism in all 11 years since 9/11,’ notes Kurzman’s team.
Yes, I realize that the most recent attack on the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando changes that data, but we’re looking at trends and statistical similarities, not isolated incidents, regardless of how horrific they may be. It’s also important to note that many news outlets have subsequently reported that Omar Mateen was a homosexual and the conflicted feelings over his sexual identity were the real underlying reasons for his heinous acts last Sunday.

Yet, somehow in Palin’s broken brain, Muslims are the one and only problem and guns are not even a consideration. Even in the face of all the research that makes it emphatically clear otherwise, Palin and her angry ilk truly believe that “GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE — BROWN PEOPLE DO,” or something.
I’d like to say we can easily dismiss her nonsense as the absurd and uninformed conjecture it is, but with 28,000 reactions and almost 10,000 shares on Palin’s painfully ignorant Facebook update at the time of this writing, it seems like the terminal idiocy of ammosexual right wing extremism isn’t slowing down much. In other words, a lot of people listen to this dingbat and that’s really scary.
While Donald Trump is splitting the Republican Party into two factions that seem to be ready to face off in quite the messy civil war, I’ll pray to The Flying Spaghetti Monster for the final GOPocalypse. If America is to prosper — or even just survive — it really can’t come soon enough.
