Donald Trump just did the stupidest thing he could possibly have done, and that’s saying A LOT considering the past week. He basically provided concrete evidence that he really is a Russian stooge trying to undermine the presidential election. I know that’s been said a million times, but I’m being deadly serious because this new revelation leaves little doubt.
Here’s how it all started. At a campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre PA, Trump was frantically waving around a paper copy of a “news” story that, according to him, absolutely, positively, 100 percent with a cherry on top proved Hillary Clinton could have saved our people in Benghazi on the night it occurred.
This would have admittedly been a stroke of absolute genius by Trump — if it were true. You’re already thinking it, and you’re right but don’t stop reading now! The fact it wasn’t true is only the beginning of this pile of shame.
The next few details are important. This “news story” was run by Sputnik, which is a state-run Russian source for information warfare, propaganda, and various other bits of fakery. Think of it like the Russian Fox News. It really is that bad.
The story claimed that Sidney Blumenthal, long-time friend and political associate of the Clintons, emailed an admission to John Podesta, Hillary’s current campaign chairman, that something could have been done about Benghazi, and it was ultimately a “preventable” thing.
The quote is below:
“Clinton was in charge of the State Department, and it failed to protect U.S. personnel at an American consulate in Libya. If the GOP wants to raise that as a talking point against her, it is legitimate.”
This quote was not a statement written by Blumenthal. It was a quote taken from a 10,000 word Newsweek article written by Kurt Eichenwald. Blumenthal appears to have copied the quote and sent it to Podesta in an email, as a reference to news media coverage of the Benghazi affair.
If you’re wondering how Sputnik got a hold of Blumenthal’s email, it was part of the Wikileaks dump. The fact that Sputnik found this single quote among the massive amounts of data dumped and ran this story so quickly makes a strong case that Wikileaks is now a Russian operation as well. But I digress…
The point of the statement by Eichenwald is that the State department did not provide enough security during the months leading up to the attack, but it was not an accusation that not enough was done on the night of the attack.
Here is the “money quote” from the Sputnik article:
Clinton was in charge of the State Department, and it failed to protect U.S. personnel at an American consulate in Libya. If the GOP wants to raise that as a talking point against her, it is legitimate,” said Blumenthal, putting to rest the Democratic Party talking point that the investigation into Clinton’s management of the State Department at the time of the attack was nothing more than a partisan witch hunt.
Notice anything identical? The non-bold part is where the fake news story starts up after the bit stolen from Newsweek. There is a lot more to the fake news story that we did not include here, but the extended paragraphs can be viewed in Eichenwald’s follow up article. I’ll save you a bit of time. The rest of the fake article is essentially a complete work of fiction simply used to house that one quote out of context.
To put this into perspective, this was so embarrassing to the Russian government that Sputnik pulled the article. The only snips of it that remain are what was captured and used in the Newsweek article, or maybe something floating around in the Google cache.
This is where Trump seriously proves he is a Russian stooge:
All laughing at Trump’s expense aside, this story is terrifying. When Trump produced his hard copy of the story he said “This just came out a little while ago.” The ONLY place that ran this story was Sputnik, and they are controlled by Putin’s regime. Trump, the Republican nominee, had the story in his hands on the stage mere hours later, where he was preaching it as if it were God’s own truth written on stone tablets.
What’s even scarier is that even though Kurt Eichenwald set the record straight within hours that the story was false and even though Sputnik pulled it, Trump spilled it on the basket of deplorables, instantly turning it into the new truth about Benghazi for millions of idiots.
