Donald Trump continues to prove that he has absolutely no clue what he’s doing. While the boneheads who support him may think it’s very trendy for him to not care about political correctness or have no fear of “speaking his mind,” those of us who don’t feel the need to see the country we love go down the tubes to make racism and hate acceptable aren’t quite as alright with it. We tend to think it makes him look ignorant and stupid. It certainly doesn’t help his case for reasonable people to vote for him.
So what does he do? How does the master of forth-grade vocabulary and fear-mongering to idiots respond to the allegations that he’s not just a racist and a xenophobe but a sexist pig as well? He hires Roger Ailes. To help him debate a woman.
Ailes, who is currently plagued by allegations of sexual harassment to the extent that it cost him his job, has been retained by Lord Cheeto to help prepare for the ass-kicking he’s about to take at the hands of Hillary Clinton on national television. According to The New York Times:
Mr. Ailes is aiding Mr. Trump’s team as it turns its attention to the first debate with Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee, on Sept. 26 at Hofstra University on Long Island, according to four people briefed on the move, who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.
Two of them said that Mr. Ailes’s role could extend beyond the debates, which Mr. Trump’s advisers see as crucial to vaulting him back into strong contention for the presidency after a series of self-inflicted wounds that have eroded his standing in public opinion polls.
A series of self-inflicted wounds indeed. The move to acquire Ailes will only strengthen the position that Trump isn’t kind when it comes to feminist issues. Hiring someone as high-profile as the former Fox chief won’t be viewed by most as a good strategy move but instead as a poor decision that will push his unfavorable ratings further into the dirt.
Ailes is, however, an excellent debate strategist well-known for prepping such ignorant assholes as Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Rudy Giuliani. Even with that impressive a resume’, something tells me the Clinton camp still isn’t worried. Secretary Clinton will, after all, still be debating an utter catastrophe.
