Trump seems completely incapable of learning. When he first threw out what has become his central campaign promise, a wall dividing the United States from those stinky brown rapists and criminals living beneath us in every sense of the word, Trump promised that “Mexico will pay for the wall.” This, of course has been his rally cry every time things die down at one of this KKK meetings, rallies, whatever you want to call them.
Sure, multiple former Mexican presidents told Trump that Mexico isn’t paying for any f*cking wall. Sure, the current president told The Donald on Wednesday that Mexico isn’t paying for the wall. But Trump is just doing what he always does and ignoring inconvenient information, lying, or both.
Though Trump said the two never discussed his precious wall in their meeting in Mexico City, President Enrique Pena Nieto explained yesterday that one of the first things he did was inform Trump that Mexico absolutely, without question, will not be paying for Trump’s gigantic, expensive, border wall.
The Trump campaign, attempting some damage control, released a statement explaining that the meeting was “not a negotiation” so it would have been “inappropriate” to talk about who is, and who is not, funding the wall.
Somehow missing how hilarious it is that Trump thinks there will be a negotiation, Trump spokesperson Jason Miller remarked:
Today was the first part of the discussion and a relationship builder between Mr. Trump and President Peña Nieto. It was not a negotiation, and that would have been inappropriate. It is unsurprising that they hold two different views on this issue, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.
On Thursday, Trump regained some of that stamina that was lost when he docilely allowed himself to get stomped in Mexico and put his Twitter fingers to work, crafting a clear statement to his supporters that “Mexico will pay for the wall.”
Mexico will pay for the wall!

Nieto responded hours later, making it perfectly clear that Mexico does not intend to waste its money on an expensive venture that can be easily defeated by a little digging.
Repito lo que le dije personalmente, Sr. Trump: México jamás pagaría por un muro. https://t.co/IJNVe0XepY

“I repeat what I told you personally, Mr. Trump: Mexico will never pay for a wall,” Nieto said.
I think it’s pretty clear: if Trump wants a wall, he should probably pony up the cash — because neither Mexico nor the American taxpayers will pay for it.
