Trump’s Delusional Thursday Morning Twitter Lie Is Earning Him World Class Mockery

On Thursday morning Donald Trump tweeted that Director of National Intelligence James Clapper had called him to “denounce the false and fictitious report that was illegally circulated.” If this were true, it would be a bombshell. Imagine if someone in Clapper’s position called the President-elect to call a dossier compiled my multiple intelligence agencies “Made up, phony facts” as Trump says.

Unfortunately for Trump, it’s not true. While Clapper did indeed call the incoming Bigot-in-Chief, the subject matter was not at all controversial until Trump made it so by blatantly lying about it. On Wednesday, Clapper announced that he did speak with Trump, but just to assure him that the document published by Buzzfeed (that’s the one that includes the allegations that Trump paid Russian prostitutes to pee for him) was not produced by his agencies, which have not authenticated the information. In other words, he was telling Trump in no uncertain terms what the rest of the world already knows.

“The IC has not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable, and we did not rely upon it in any way for our conclusions. However, part of our obligation is to ensure that policymakers are provided with the fullest possible picture of any matters that might affect national security,” Clapper said, appearing to confirm that Trump’s team is lying when they say he did not see the two-page addendum to the original report.

Clapper also says he expressed his “profound dismay” that the information was discovered through leaks and that he and Trump, who spent months using the leaks provided to him by Russia through an intermediary (Wikileaks) to attack Hillary Clinton, “both agreed that they are extremely corrosive and damaging to our national security.”

Clapper was clear that no determination of fact had been made (though one must wonder why the allegations were not dismissed right away if they are false) nor did he say the release was “illegal” (it’s not), but that didn’t stop Trump from lying about it. Of course, our friends who dutifully hammer Trump daily for the stupid things he says on Twitter were not about to let a chance to hit him for this trickle away like a stream of hooker urine:

Like Trump, the rest of us should pay attention to the words Clapper actually used. For instance, he called it a “leak,” not a false document. In other words, the allegations are real, but not yet verified just like Buzzfeed said in their report. Clapper’s criticism was of the manner of release rather than the actual information itself.

Trump stepped in it huge this morning, and we look forward to further information about his misdeeds.
